Question:
Am I on track?

I am a little over five weeks post op, open RNY, I had the surgery on June 09, 2003. I am only 34 lbs. down. I began at 318. I am now at 284. Is this normal weight loss or am I going to be a really slow looser? Please help me!! I know it is going to take time, but I am so ready to have lost more. Thank you!    — Christy H. Christy- I was only 28 lbs down at 5 weeks. My doc says everybody is different. It is disappointing, but it is what happens long term that counts. Keep up the good work. Lynda

You have lost more weight at 5 weeks than I did. Make sure you get your protein and water in and you will do just fine. Dont get in the habit of comparing yourself to others or you will make yourself crazy.Trust me on that! :) You are doing GREAT!! ~Sidney~ Open RNY 10-23-02 down 100+ and counting

My surgery was 6-9-03 too! I thought it was just me--I've only lost 28 and started at 288--260 now. How disappointing I thought--then I thought-I'm normal. Hopefully in the long run it will be more but this weight isn't creeping back--it's gone forever. As we get more calories, protein and water our body metabolism will increase and burn more as we can weight train :) Hang in there!
