Question:
I just had an abdominalplasty/hernia repair/ liposuciton in midsection, a month ago.

I am healing quite nicely. I had lost 100# since my gastric bypass surgery three years ago and my weight has stabilized for more than a year, however I still need to lose about 30# to goal. The doctor removed 8# of tissue from pannus and it looks great. My question is: What happens if I lose more weight in my lifetime? I am sure that I will now that I am rid of that awful pannus getting in the way of exercising. Will there be another pannus from maximum of 30# wt. loss...next question...what happens if I (heaven forbid) GAIN weight? Will I explode? This skin is very tight and cannot "pinch an inch" at all. Thanks, Carolyn    — Carolyn G. (posted on April 15, 2004)

You don't have to worry about a thing. If you lose more you will not have any sagging skin in that area. If you gain (like I have done (15lbs)) you will not explode. enjoy your new look! Marsha

My surgeon said that to really cause any noticeable skin issues after PS one would have to lose another 25-50 lbs. Worst case is if it bothered you a little tightening would need to be done, but probably could be done in the office if your surgeon has the facilities. I was more than willing to gamble than wait till my weight was stabilized for months etc. I'm with you on the really tight skin though. The thought of gaining much and putting the pressure on it does not excite me. However, Im sure it will give but not sure if it will shrink as good afterwards when the weight comes back off. Especially in my case because 99% of what I have left is already severely stretchmarked skin. I know if the hip swells at all I feel it. I'm 7+ weeks PO from a lower body lift.
