Question:
How long will the hopsital stay be?

I am having RNY performed April 5th, My Doctor will have to undo Nissans before Performing the RNY, My question is will the hospital stay be longer,because of the Two in one surgerys? Edna    — ednacoleman (posted on March 3, 2005)

That is really a question to ask your doctor, any of us would probley be guessing. Good Luck on your surgery, and may your surgery be safe with a speedy recovery.

I think you will not know the answer to that prior to surgery. My surgeon told me 2 days and maybe 3, but that was prior to the surgery. My surgery was supposed to last 1 1/2 - 2 hours, but was over 6 hours due to the nissen. He nicked my spleen and had to do a spleenectomy. I stayed in the hospital 8 days. I probably should have stayed a little longer, but I am now 4 months post-op and finally am doing better. I got my last tube out Tuesday. I am now tubeless. Good luck. Don't rush it..stay as long as you NEED to after surgery. TAke care of yourself and you probably want to take someone with you to the hospital. You'll need the help.

My stay for open RNY was 3 nights - had surgery Friday afternoon and went home Monday morning. Hope your hospital course will be as uncomlicated as mine! Good luck to you! Bette
