Question:
Do you have any advice on breaking plateaus?

I had the RNY DGB 1 year ago. As of 3/98 I'd lost 99 lbs. Due to a car accident in March, I have been unable to exercise, but have continued following my Dr.'s protocol in every other way. I have gained back 6 1/2 lbs, and I'm mortified. Any ideas on breaking this?    — Pearl B. (posted on June 1, 1999)

Avoid milk and sugar COMPLETELY, add another glass of water and use a high quality protein! Not guaranteed, but it's all healthy, so it can't hurt.

Make sure you drink lots of water. Are you getting enough protein daily? And exercise or increase your activity level. These three things have worked well for me.

Try eating 5 much smaller meals each day, at regular intervals (7am-10am-1pm-4pm-7pm). Also, just do all those other things most of us have been told to do, i.e., don't eat late in the evening, don't skip breakfast, exercise as much as you can (in your case, whatever you can do, however minimal WILL DEFINITELY HELP! Good luck.
