How expensive is this type for self-payers?

dr. rumbaut in mexico charges about 8,500. for everything. at least that is what others have told me but now i just had a email from someone who paid 10,000. because she stayed 2 noghts instead of one.

This surgery can be done for about 5,000.00 and up there are diffrent prices all over the world. There are 3 Dr.'s in Monterrey Mexico who do this type of surgery. Your friend in Texas Patty [email protected]

It varies upon surgeon, location, and type of band. I've heard as low as $5K in Mexico, and as high as $36K in Los Angeles. I paid $19 in Northern California. But be aware -- price has little correlation on surgeon skill. Many of the cheaper Mexican doctors have alot more experience than the Americans participating in the FDA trials. Look for surgeon skill and prior outcomes. I love my American surgeon, but I would have gone to Mexico if need be, secure that it would have been done right.

As of researching back in June of 2002, I found a self pay amount of around $15,000 Through Dr Spivak in Baytown Texas. I have seen amounts varying upwards from that for various other doctors. In Mexico, the cheapest I have seen is Dr Rodriguez in Acuna Mexico, $6500 as of 11/8/02, other very experienced doctors in Mexico, in the $10,000 area.
