Question:
Looking for lists of products/food high in protien, including those low in fat.

I'm starting to prepare for post-op diet. Would like to know as much about protien as possible. Would also like to hear about unique ways to use it or get it down (like putting in food, mixing with juice, etc). Thanks!    — cynthiaellis (posted on November 30, 2000)

Just a couple of thoughts. 1. I bought a book called The Protein Counter from Walden Books (approx $8), it lists many many foods with fat, carbs, calories and protein. A very good resource. 2. Low fat cottage cheese 1/2 cup 2.5 g fat, 13 g protein! 3. Imitation Louis Kemp crab meet 3 oz serving 0 fat, 80 calories and 8 (I think) grams of protein 4. Chicken softshell taco from Taco bell. Under 200 calories and 13 g protein in a 3.5 oz serving...1 taco. (Sorry, I don't remember the fat count, but pretty low) 5. Fat Free Chocolate Milk, 0 fat, 110 calories and 9 g protein in a 8 oz glass.....Skim White Milk has fewer calories....80 I think. 6. String Cheese...1 piece..approx 1 oz has 5g fat, and 6 g protein. 7. An egg has the same as the cheese. Anyway, I'll stop now, but good luck, and I really suggest the book. When you're sitting there at home post op,the days can get pretty long....you'll be surprise what you'll look up!
