Question:
I think I just need reassured.

The scales quit moving at about 2 1/2 weeks post op so I knew I had to quit weighing every day. Well last week I went for a check up and I was down 21 lbs in just under 4 weeks (thrilled). So I get on the scales once a week. Well that was today and they still haven't moved. I've been following my dietary guidlines and drinking lots of water. I am having difficulty with exersize though. I came back to work at just under 3 weeks and my schedule has kept me exhausted. I am finding that some of those old compulsive behaviors are coming back, like letting what the scales say ruin my whole day. I had stopped using the scales for years before wls because of this. Guess I'm just whining for some words of encouragement. — Lisa P. (posted on January 10, 2001)

Oh boy do we ALL know what you are going through even though it may feel like you are the only one. I couldn't get passed the 200 mark for over 2 and a half weeks. I finally gave up depending on the scale daily and weighed in at 191. Your body is resting and that is good. I bet we all wish that we could lose weight everyday but that would not be too good for us so relax and enjoy the newer you.

I plateaued for a month at 4 weeks post-op. I have had a couple of other plateaus, and am on another now at 8 months post-op. I have only lost 15 lbs in the last two months. They are so frustrating, I know, and I sympathize with you. No one knows just how much weight issues plague us mentally. Moreso for me now that the weight loss is slowing. We just have to keep doing what we know is right and it will break, sooner or later. My new year's resolution is to exercise more, and that's what I'm doing. I'm trying my best to avoid the scales like the plague. It will happen for us, we just have to have patience. Something that is NOT my greatest virtue! LOL!
