Question:
Since weight loss surgery does anyone have problems with sweating?

I am asking this question because I have noticed in the past couple months since my surgery that sometimes I will eat or drink something and then start sweating and sometimes it lasts awhile before it finally stops. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen.    — Jennifer G. (posted on March 5, 2001)

Sometimes when your blood sugar is low it will cause you to sweat.Maybe there is sugar in what you are drinking and you are having a mild dumping syndrone attack????

I have a problem with being freezing cold. I walk around the office with a coat and a blanket. I know that sounds crazy and it looks crazy too. But I can't seem to get warm.

I was experiencing night sweats and tracked it down to the orange juice diluted with water I was drinking at night. I kept it by the bed and sipped. This was a few weeks post op and for some reason, my blood sugar was slightly high even though I am not diabetic. My PCP did a blood test to see what my blood had been doing for the past three months...amazing! Anyhow, he said I was right on the verge of becoming diabetic right before my surgery in November. He said the surgery and post op diet would straighten it out. Check the amount of sugar you are eating. And with your next bloodwork ask your physician to check your sugar levels. I was very surprised to see that I was becoming diabetic before surgery. Once again, I am glad I had the rny when I did! As far as sweating during the day or at work, no I am always cold anymore. My poor husband is burning up because I want to keep the heat on all the time or a fire in the fireplace!

During the first month or so after surgery, I sweated like crazy! I think my body was just burning off the fat that way. It stopped later on.

One of the major side effects of antidepressants is sweating. Were you put on them recently, or could it be that you are feeling more effects of them due to weight loss? Also, that's the body's way of ridding itself of toxins, so be glad, and don't sweat it! LOL
