Question:
Anyone know a tv writer?

I watched a medical show tonight about a morbidly obese woman who nearly died taking herbals or something trying to loose weight. She was denied a good job because of her weight too. It got me thinking, wouldnt it be wonderful if a tv show created a morbidly obese character and followed their surgery in a small way as part of the plot, filming the person perodically as they lost weight? The entire audience would see the person shrinking! Many who dont know about surgery would be informed. Anyone have a connection in the tv industry. It would be a excellent sub plot. Now if thi a off the wall idea please delete it or ignore the writings of a scared stiff guy just hours from surgery who cant sleep.    — bob-haller (posted on July 22, 2001)

Hi Bob, there was an MSNBC documentary with our very own Bob Goldstein. I personally haven't seen it yet but my understanding is that it covers his journey to post-op. It's been aired several times but I always seem to hear after the fact. I'm pre-op and can just imagine the gamut of emotions you're going through with surgery hours away, but everything will go just fine and before you know it you'll be on the lighter side. My thoughts and prayers are with you. All the best.

Happily reporting in from the other side. Surgery went well and I am feeling good, considering that I just had surgery on monday. I think this idea would be good, because it would be part of a regular tv show rather than a special. They could show the person struggling with their weight, ha=earing about and researching surgery, all the way to success after loosing 120 pounds or something. Think of the exposure a character and subplot on a reguklar show would get. The MSNBC special is great and I have watched it several times but had in mind something with bigger exposure like the west wing or ER.
