Question:
Ladies, anyone on BCP and had your period at surgery?

Anyone on BCPS and NOT due yet but started while you had surgery? How long did it last? What can I take for the cramps that are worse then everbefore??    — kimberley B. (posted on December 10, 2001)

Hi Kimberly, I am one who doesn't get my period regularly,well the day before surgery I started spotting. Till I got back to my room after surgery I was flowing so heavy the nurses thought I was hemorraging. I told them I get it heavy because I am not regular and they felt the blood thinners they gave me also contributed to the flooding. I was so embarrassed because they didn't have a pad on me the O.R. team put an Attends on me ,Thank God for the wonderful nurses at our hospital,they cleaned me up twice (very embarrassing). I just couldn't do it myself. They said don't worry that is our job. It continued heavy until my discharge and the only thing I could have for cramping was the pain meds. prescribed.

I got my while I was on the cart waiting to go into surgery. It was a week early and not happy. I used tampons and it was hard to bend down to um, do what I needed to.
