Question:
Does anyone in Buffalo or Rochester NY do this procedure?
I haveheard that MGB procedure is very sucessful and not as invasive as even the regular laporoscopy.I am concerned about the open type surgery. — Patricia C. (posted on May 22, 2002)

Yes, Dr. Caruana in Buffalo - he did mine three weeks ago and I believe Dr.
Sax is the doctor in Rochester.

I'm sorry, my mistake, I didn't read your question thoroughly. Dr.
Carauana only does open, but it's fine and I'm going back to work next
Tuesday.

Patricia, the MGB or Mini-Gastic Bypass is a procedure that is no longer
considered safe and therefore no longer performed except by one doctor in
North Carolina. I hope you consider the other options available to you such
as the RNY and the BPD/DS. This site has plenty of great info on RNY. A
good source of info on the BPD/DS can be found on www.duodenalswitch.com
Good Luck! :)
