Great article...thanks for sharing it. The article mentioned that this particular surgeon had a 5-7 month waiting period for consultation and up to 8 additional months for a surgery date. I was wondering if anyone out there has had to wait a year for a surgery date, assuming insurance woes are not the reason for the wait.

Hi! I waited over a year for my surgery. I had my surgery done at an army medical center. Madigan here in Washington state. The wait list now is over 2 years now. Tricare will pay for people to go out in town but you have to jump through a lot of hoops and can get denied. I waited and was lucky it was only a year.To all you waiting Hang in there! It is worth it!

someone said the link doesn't work but you have all been able to get to it, just incase here it is again: http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2003/Oct/12/il/il01a.html just copy and paste...... As for my surgery........I had Dr.Lapschies. It was pretty smooth and he hasprobably done the most in the state as of now. He also is (I think) the only guy right now doing Lap RNY. I went thru the program at a good rate.... initial call in December, had to go to an initial class about the surgery then had consultation #1 in Jan (late Jan.) had all of my testing done and received insurance approval by April and we scheduled the surgery for May 12. Yesterday was my 5 month anniversary and a loss of 111 POUNDS! Only 60 pounds to goal!!!!
