Question:
Is this normal, I plateau all the time.

I'm one of the slow losers and I plateau ALL THE TIME!! I will lose 5lbs and then go INSTANTLY onto another plateau for 2-3 weeks. I get my water, protien in and I'm getting better on my exercise. This has been the way of it since my 3rd week out. So far I've lost 52lbs since Oct. 23rd so I am happy with that. But is there anything I can do to not go from one plateau right onto another one? Will I ever lose at a steadier pace?    — Kris T. (posted on January 17, 2002)

AMEN!!!!! LOL I don't know if its NORMAL (how normal am I?), but I have been dealing with that same kind of thing. I have lost 42 lbs since Nov. 13, and I hope to loose at least 15 more before february... I don't know at this pace because I, too, am on a plateau... I need to be a little more faithful to the water, that is an issue with me, and excersizing will happen soon... but I do go from one plateau to another.. I will loose 5 or so lbs, and then hold that for about 2 weeks, loose a few more, and wait a few weeks... i have not lost anymore weight for about 2 weeks now... I am frustrated, but at the same time, happy just because I know it's not comming back! Hang in there...it will happen at it's own pace ~ be patient (yea, right!) GOOD LUCK!

I lose around my cycle. Pay attention to that. You may be losing at the same time each month. I lose 5 pounds the week before my cycle, then maybe 5-10 pounds the week of. I am 7 1/2 months out and down 99.5 pounds. Good luck and God Bless!

I just had to giggle when I read your question. I am a pre-op and you'll think I have no business posting here, but I thought I would just tell you how absolutely wonderful it is to hear that you have lost 52 pounds in three months!! Be patient, I think you're doing great! (and would trade places with you in a heartbeat) Brenda

I do too, Read my profile. My loss has been good, but not what I consider to be steady. I have gone 3 weeks and nothing. I think it is because of my age (37) and the fact that I dieted a lot.

I also go on plateaus for 3 weeks at a time. I will lose 5-10 pounds one week and then nothing for 3 weeks. I think my body is just catching up. I have tried everything during those 3 weeks and nothing seems to matter. My body has a mind of it's own. But my overall weight loss is fine-8 months post op down 125 pounds! Hang in there, the weight will come off.

Think of them as "steps" (up or down, whichever you prefer), rather than plateaus. Plateaus are just FLAT. Steps are going somewhere, but only one at a time. That's all. Just little resting spots.
