Question:
I am 9 wks out and have lost 42 lbs. but

when I check out the place where you put in your starting wt. and it tells you how much wt. you will lose at each month I am not losing as I should. I should have lost 60lbs by now to lose 100% of my excess wt. and even if I only lost 80% of my excess wt. I still should be down 20 more lbs then I currently am what is up with this. Is this a reliable chart!!!!! Help me please    — diane H. (posted on August 19, 2002)

I know you've heard this a thousands times before, but everyone really does lose at their own pace. I know its frustrating, but if you are doing what you are suppose to the weight will come off. You may go a month without much weight loss. Then you might lose 10 pounds practically overnight. Don't worry yourself. Keep drinking lots of water, put protien first, and exercise. If you are already doing these three things, keep up the good work! Good Luck. P.S. I think 42 pounds is a great accomplishment for 9 weeks out.

As of tomorrow I will be 12 weeks post op and I have only lost 60 lbs. I think that is a pretty good amount of weight lose considering that you couldn't do that on your own and keep it off. If you could then there would not have been a reason to have this surgery. Just be happy that you have lost 42 lbs. Drink....drink....srink plenty of water, and exercise as much as you can.

I think we started out about the same. I'm 5'7, and was 293 the day of surgery. As of today I have lost 38 lbs., Thursday will be my 9 weeks. I was told I will lose slower because I'm a lite weight (me, lite weight, imagine that :)). It sounded good when the doctor and nutrionist told me, besides I'm hoping if I lose slowly I won't have a lot of hair loss and working out will hope tone as I lose. Good luck to you and God Bless!

Sounds like your doing great to me, just remember everybody loses at different rate. I lost 12 lbs at 3 weeks, now 33 at 12 weeks, sometimes I think its not fair when other lose faster but thats life. Be happy your doing great!!!!

Hi Diane! I'm a slow loser, too. The answer is, that "chart" can just BITE ME, lolol! I'm losing at about the same rate as you are, sticking with all the rules and going to the gym & all that. I feel great, but that dang graph bums me out too. Go on fitday.com, put in your beginning, current, and goal weights, pick a reasonable date (to you) to try to reach goal, and fitday will make you your *own* little chart. Phooey on the other chart! :D

I'm also 9 weeks out and I'm only down about 35 lbs! I sure would like to see 60 pounds down too. I have ALWAYS been a slow loser; that's why I had the surgery. It took me 18 months one time to lose 50 pounds. I thought it would be different with the surgery, but it is not. I ghuess it will happen for me, just longer time.
