Question:
what did he do that is so different form all the rest

why is it that after 6 1/2 months i have only lost 84 pounds why is this happening what did he do to me that is so different from everybody else that had the same surgery, i dont understand this i see some people that weight less than i did to start and have lost more than i have in less time like one person weighing 290 and lost 90 pounds in 4 months or one person weighing 260 and lost 100 pounds in 6 months whats up with that. i know that 84 pounds is like carring around 8 10 pound bags of potatoes plus one 5 pound bag minus a couple of them but dayum whats going on?    — Latisha M. I often get frustrated and ask the same question. I know it can get you down. Think of it this way, you are the only one of you. No one else in this whole world has the same genetic codes that you do. Everyone is bound to lose at a differant speed. That's like saying 'I can't believe it took me 4 months to recover from heart surgery when it took so and so only 2 months.' Good Luck and keep your head up! You are doing just fine.

Here is a (((HUG))) ... I can relate to your feelings. I started out as a "heavy weight" ... super MO by BMI standards (starting BMI = 60+.). I had lost 98 at 6 months ... 135 at 12 months. I am now 22 months post op and have gained and lost the same 5 pounds several times over the past 10 months ... talk about frustration. I have seen many smaller than me zoom past me in terms of weight loss and many my size have made it to goal. I am still 70 pounds from my personal goal and 90 from "ideal" chart weight. I never eat sugar, I don't drink soda, never drink with meals, drink water by the gallons and exercise at least 3 times a week ... and I still can't get the scales to budge. I recently cut my carbs down to the absolute minimum I can stand (< 20/day) and am trying hard to up the exercise to 4-5 times a week. I am not ready to throw in the towel yet ... but it remains to be seen if I will make it anywhere close to goal. No matter how many times it has been said before ... it bears repeating. We really are all genetically and biologically different ... and what works for some of us, does not necessarily work exactly the same for all of us. I know WLS is only a tool ... but I think it is important to acknowledge that the tool does not work exactly the same for everyone! I don't know if this helps ... except at least you know you are not alone!

I sometimes feel that way... wondering why I don't lose faster... then I realize.. I'm not so good about exercising, although I do at least every other day... but I realize if I did more, I'd lose more. What are you eating? Are you exercising? My guess is, as well as biology.. it matters what you eat and how much you move... ... and one other thing I remind myself... when was the last time I lost this much (or little) weight so easily? LONG LONG LONG time ago... enjoy what you've lost... *smile* good luck
