Question:
I am 6 months post op on Jan 12. I have lost 63 pounds.

I know I am a light weight and this is why my weight loss is slow. I am now on a plateau. It started Jan 10 and am still there. I know that is not very long but the longest I have had one.I am really scared. I know I shouldn't be but I am just now starting to feel good about my self. I am getting my self esteem back and am in a size 12-14 jeans after being in a 24 and now wear L and sometimes M shirts after being in a 2 or 3 x.So I have upped my intake of food and I have tried to up my liquids although that is hard as if I drink then I can't eat enough if I eat I do not drink enough. I am at a loss here.I am afraid that sometimes I wash out my pouch or am afraid I stretched it. Any one out there have any helpful hints? I started at 224 and am now 161. 5 foot1/2 inch. I do not exercise regularly except every sunday I go roller skating I work full time plus help my sister in her business sometimes. I have four children(age 17 to twins that are 9) at home and my Honey. He is great and just tells me to stick to it. I just need some advice here. I am terribly afraid I am done and will not lose more. Thanks for all your help. Lynne    — Lynne K. (posted on January 30, 2003)

I have had plateaus, too. I am a slow loser, also. Look at my profile and you will see how very slow I do lose some weeks. What keeps me going is measuring weekly instead of getting on the scales. The scales don't show the true story. You may be swapping fat for lean, so the scales won't move. If you haven't done it already, measure now, and again a week from now and I bet you'll see a big difference. I think your weight loss is great!!

Hey, I think you are doing just fine. I too am 6 months post op and lost 62 pounds. At my last doctor visit, he told me that I should expect a big plateau coming soon. And it is here now. I'm not worried about it, because he warned me about it. He said my weight loss would slow down consideraby now. So don't worry, it'll come off, just don't expect it to be as fast any more. I figure I'm only 15 pounds from my goal weight in six months, and I understand it usually takes 1-1/2 to 2 years to lose all the weight, I think I can stand taking a year for the rest to fall off. It gives me something to look forward to.

You are doing GREAT......I too am a light weight, I have lost 50 lbs in 4 months, I checked the weight loss planner and it shows a significant slowing down to about 4lbs a month....so I am right on track and just expect it to slow down even more...my trick is I just dont look. Start weighing in every other week and stick to it......hang in there...it will keep coming off!!!
