Question:
I HAVE NOT LOST WEIGHT IN OVER A WEEK

I AM 4 WEEKS POST OP AND I HAVE NOT LOST ANY WEIGHT IN OVER A WEEK. WHAT'S WRONG? I'M NOT EATING A LOT AND I FEEL LIKE I'M BEHIND SCHEDULE FOR LOSING    — PRISCILLA D. (posted on April 1, 2003)

Your body is adjusting, don't lose hope, you will lose. It is almost impossible not to. I felt the same way, I lost 22lbs in the first 5 days and then only another 5lbs the next 2 wks, you will, trust us! Good Luck! Heather (Open rny 8/15) 305/201/150

Everyone drops weight at different paces. I am 6mo post-op(open RNY sept.19)and have lost 106# but today I finaly lost 1 pound after 3wks of nothing but I am still losing inches and most likely you are too. Don't get worked up over it and just keep up the good work....it's worth it!!!

Stop weighing yourself so often and stoo obsessing about the weight loss (or lack of it). I got weighed *twice* in the first two months after my operation. If you follow your post-op diet plan, get your water and protein in and exercise even a little bit (at this stage, walking is good), then the weight will come off. You may not see it if you are weighing yourself every day though...JR

I agree with John, especially at 4 weeks post op when you are still healing. Owning a scale, IMHO is patently evil and I wish everyone would just throw them away. Focus on healing and establishing the good habits of getting your water and protein in.. the loss will come. Really, it will. ~Peace

And you will have other weeks where you do not lose weight either...there is absolutely nothing wrong. Your body will from time to time stop losing for a period of time to help it adjust to the changes that it is experiencing. The worse thing you can do in this case is to not eat enough. Then the body thinks that you are trying to starve it and it will hoard what weight is left. Keep eating well balanced meals, lots of protein, and tons of water, and if you haven't started exercising, start now. The weight will continue to come off for quite some time.
