Question:
4-weeks post op and I lost only 1/2 pound this week. ....

....for a total of only 19 pounds so far. And I thought I was depressed before I weighed this morning! UUGH.    — Kim L. (posted on May 4, 2003)

I had lost 22 at 4 weeks. I'm going into 7 weeks and think I lost another 15 in these 3 weeks. I'm moving more (walking 2 miles nearly every day) and eating more healthily (is that a word), ie. not just eggs and cottage cheese. Mostly soup (pea, chicken and bean ... thank God I lvoe to cook), shrimp and fish. The weight'll start moving more when you start moving more. Do "anything" different to jump start yourself again. I think you're doing great and love your questions. I always see them and appreciate them as we're very close in "age." Best wishes to ya!

Do NOT weigh every day, otherwise you may be disappointed. I was a very slow loser. When everyone else was at 6 mos. with a lost of 80 or 100 lbs. I was still chugging along slowly, but I eventually caught up. Walk!!! Drink lots of water and eat lots of protein! Good luck...you WILL continue to lose.

Confessions of a scale moron: ... that would be me. I used to get on the scale 35 times a day, maybe more (ok... not that much) but it made the difference for my whole day. Early on its cool, you lose so fast, its wonderful. Eventually, it slows down and your body starts to react to things and you go up, you go down, you go down, you go up a little bit. .. etc. I finally put my scale in the closet. I weigh a minimum of every two weeks, but usually once a week at support group now. What an amazing difference in my moods andd how I feel. Please, if you can manage it, put it away and weigh either at your doctors office or just once or twice a month. It will make such a difference in your mental state.

I know, I know I know. But in all honestly, I weigh myself weekly; every Sunday morning. So I had NO idea that I was going to lose so little!!! That's why I was so shocked. I'm tracking my weight loss on a weekly basis. Depressing! :) I know it will pick up, I just have to get my diet in order; because quite honestly...I have no idea what I'm doing!!!! LOL. Seriously. :)

Ehhh...you'll get over it. Everyone has slow moments etc. I thought I was a slow loser, thought I'd stretched my pouch, thought I ate more than others did etc. etc. I'm 2 years out, at goal and that's really what matters. It'll happen. Good luck and God bless!

Total opposite here: I weigh every day and graph my weight, then I average my weight for the week. Some days I'm up, some days I'm down. And the up days are usually after I've had too many carbs the day before. I use this as a tool to help figure out what I need to change.
