Question:
Does the extra skin on your back shrink?
I have big "fat pockets" on my back that come around the sides under my arms where my bra is "supposed" to go (Gosh, I hate it!!) Will this shrink. If not is it included in one of the plastic surgery procedures that remove extra skin, or is it a separate procedure? Thanks. — anapple4theteacher (posted on October 25, 2003)

Whether or not the excess skin on your back shrinks depends on genetics and
the elasticity of your skin. I have excess skin at my bra line, but to be
honest it is not really a big worry. You see it when I am wearing a tight
shirt and it looks like fat, when its not. I wasn't going to do anything
with it, but when I went to my plastic surgery consult he gave me a price
for doing it along with removing the skin on my upper arms. It wasn't that
much, so I figured I might as well have it done. Two plastic surgeons have
told me that having this done is a separate procedure. If you are going to
have any other plastic surgery done, you can ask how much more it would be
for them to include this area. Combining procedures is generally less
expensive.

My naked backside is my best looking view these days. I know of the
hanging fat you speak of. Mine is not totally gone but has shrunk quite a
bit. That area of skin can get somewhat pulled tighter by an
abdominoplasty, or breast lift or having arms and breasts done together.
The amount I have left will likely be greatly improved when the upper half
of my abdominoplasty would get done. Because of strange anatomy I need it
done in two procedures - above and below the waist. I'm hoping to do the
upper portion and arms together and they should be able to wrap that skin
also. I don';t intend on doing anything with breasts as a good bra takes
care of that.

Mine has shrunk, but is still very much there.

Still there but easier to hide. I wear one of those one piece shapers that
includes the bra and it helps hide it better.
