Question:
Protein drinks w/o aspartame or iodine as ingredients?

i'm allergic to aspartame, chicken, seafood & iodine. anyone know of protein drinks that do not contain any of the above? i've tried looking online, but lots of them don't post a copy of their lable. i do know that atkins, slim-fast & keto all have one or more of these in them. any suggestions?    — laureen227 (posted on July 14, 2004)

Nectar has no iodine or aspartame, and in my opinion, it's the best tasting protein drink out there! My favorite is the Fuzzy Navel flavor mixed with SF Tang or Crystal Lite Sunrise, but all the flavors I've tried have been good. You can order sample sizes at bariatriceating.com. I've also found it other places online, but never found it locally yet. Nectar has 90 calories/serving and 23 g protein.

I just did a google search ( "whey protein" as I wanted to avoid the soy) and the majority of the sites with products do have a place to see the full ingredient listing of their products. Another one I found locally is at Wal-Mart, the name brand is ARIA WOMEN'S PROTEIN and it's 50/50 soy and whey. Not too bad it's a lot like Ovaltine. LOL This particular one comes in a 12 oz can and costs less than $9.00. Most of the online ones I found are much lower in cost. Calories 80 Calories from fat 10 total fat 1g sat fat o.o5g cholesterol 5mg total carbs 4g dietary fiber 0.5g sugars 2g protein 14g vitamin b2 0.04mg folic acid 600mcg vitamin b12 4mcg calcium (calcium phosphate) 282mg Iron 1.4mg phosphorus 100mg magnesium 12mg sodium 95mg potassium 200mg INGREDIENTS: Non-Genetically Modified Water Extracted Soy Protein Isolate, Designer Whey Protein Blend (whey protein concentrate, PDUF whey protein isolate, hydrolyzed whey protein), fructose, cocoa, calcium phosphate, Trutina dulcem (natural sweetener), lecithin, cellulose gum, natural chocolate flavors, malic acid, natural vitamin E. This product contains no artificial sweeteners, no artificial flavors, no added L-tryptophan, salt or sucrose. Other than whey which is naturally occuring in milk, there are no animal sourced ingredients in this product. And...it's 100% guaranteed. If you don't like it, take it back and The retailer will give you a refund. FYI also........it did win the American Culinary Institute BEST TASTE AWARD for 2004. Marsha

Marsha beat me to it...I check my can of Aria and I do not see any of the ingredients you listed being allergic to on the label. I to get it at WalMart. It's no milkshake, but I find it to be tasty if not tolerable. Good Luck! Sherry S :)

Laureen, I like optimum nutritions unflavored whey protein. It doesn't have any of the items that you have to avoid in it. it is tasteless and mixes with just about anything. here is a site you can look at to see the nutritional stats. I hope this helps. http://www.keysupplements.com/products/1315.htm lisa postop lap/rny 10-23-03 -138.5lbs 339/200.5/???
