Question:
Post Surgery Medication List

I have seen lists some place of medications to not be taken after having WLS but forget where to find any of them. Could someone please direct me to them. Thank you so much.    — Denise K. (posted on September 19, 2000)

My surgeon gave me a short list of medications not to take after surgery. It says Do Not Take Motrin/Ibuprofen, Aspirin/Salicylate, Pepto-Bismol(a salicylate), Aleve/Naproxen Sodium, Excedrin/Excedrin Migraine, Non-steroidal anti-inflamatory drugs. He also said to look for sugar-free medications whenever possible. I have seen sugar-free cough syrups etc. near the diabetic supplies in drug stores. Luckily, I haven't had to buy any yet. Every surgeon has their own recommendations regarding what medications are ok and not ok, so make sure to ask your surgeon.
