Question:
How can I maximize weight loss

Okay, I haven't even had surgery yet, but I see these people that lose like 60 pouonds in 3 months. I know not to compare to others, but I was wondering what I can do to maximize my weight loss once the surgery is over. I heard you should eat more calories in a day. I thought eating less calories would make you lose weight. I know all about daily exercise, and I know to get like 60 grams of protein in a day, but what if I can't get to goal?? Any ideas??    — [Anonymous] (posted on September 21, 2000)

From my point of view, it isn't calories that make or break your wt loss, it's what KIND of calories. IF you make them all sugar calories, you will gain, not lose. If you make every calorie count toward nutrition, you wil lose fat and hold onto muscle. Skip the empty calories and go for the ones that will work FOR you, not against you. RNY do not absorb all their fats 'n oils, so choosing fat free is going to raise the sugar g in an item. We DO absorb 100% of sugars. We don't absorb as much protein, iron, calcium, A, D, E, zinc & B12 as people with a full stomach. I prefer to supplement those items with 0 or few calories/sugars rather than streching my pouch trying to get it in, or using high calorie liquids.
