Question:
One more question about vitamins and minerals

As you all must know by now, my body won't absorb and vitamins and minerals anymore really. I got the iron problem under control with iron injections 2 times a week now but, now I have a severe calcium deficiency too. The problem is that I am losing my teeth because of it and also am starting to have arthritis problems too. All this from a person who had NO cavities even before surgery. I have already lost 2 teeth to this and don't want this to continue. Any suggestions how to get calcium other than orally. My PCP is looking into this but so far has found nothing short of an IV of calcium which she doesn't want to do unless all else fails. Thanks all for coming to my rescue one more time.    — Barbara H. (posted on January 3, 2001)

You are taking calcium citrate only? How much vit D in dry form have you tried? I do better with more like 2400mg of dry D in addition to what's in my calcium citrate and my multi-vites. The more D, the more calcium. But it has to be DRY, water soluble, not oil-filled. Also, boron helps calcium absorb, as does ipriflavone.
