WHAT IS THIS I'M HEARING ABOUT HORRIBLE SMELLING GAS/BM'S?    — Lea L. (posted on April 2, 2001)

I had a proximal lap RNY, as well as 3 other family members. This has not been a problem for any of us, nor for members of our surgeon's on-line support group as far as I know. Patients who have more distal surgeries seem to report more problems than proximal surgery patients. Good luck!

the proximals don't seem to have this problem I am a distal and experience foul BM's and gas but it really isnt a problem I use sprays in the Bathroom and have never had gas i couldnt control I usually step out side besides a distal ensures you a better sucess in keeping the weight off...and that to me is not a high price to pay
