Question:
I recently had a tummy tuck and 2 hernia repairs done. My question is for those

who have had a tummy tuck, about how many months did it take for the sweelling and the hardness to go away. I am figuring about 6 to 8 months. My stomach looks more swollen than it did before I had the surgery, but I can't wait for the flat firm tummy to come.    — [Anonymous] (posted on April 3, 2001)

Did you have the surgery for hernia repair and the tt while they were at it, or did they fix the hernias as long as they were doing the tummy tuck? How close were you to your goal weight when you had it done?

on January 2, 2001 I had three hernia repaired with my abdominoplasty with panni removal.. And YESSSSS you will be swollen I'm three months post-op and still very swollen & tender.. When I started this surgery procedure I was 174 pounds 24 pounds from goal weight.. The surgeon removed 10 pounds and I regained 8 pounds in fluid (IV) I was in the hospital 5 days.. I'm now 156... size wise I dropped 2 sizes right after surgery even being swollen before surgery was 14 & 16 now 12 easy and when swelling all down and soreness less should be size 10 comfortable. I'm not trying to lose any more weight. I was trying to stay at 159 per my surgeon instruction for better wound healing, although last week and this week I somehow dropped 3 more pounds. here is my abdominoplasty webpage for the complete story http://www.angelfire.com/journal2/surgery

I'm sorry I was so focused on my question that I gave no history on my self. I was 10 pounds from goal, 11 months wls post-op (surgery date was 4/4/2000), size 10-12. I've lost 12 pounds in the last 4 weeks, in a size 8-10 depending on the garment. I do have a lot swelling and tenderness, but it is nothing that I can't handle. I now sport a man-made navel, due to the hernia being all around my navel, which look horrible anyway, looks much cleaner and neater now. My WLS did my hernai repairs and TT.
