Question:
31 pounds lost at 8 Weeks post op, is this too slow?

Is my loss too slow??? My BMI was 71 when I had surgery (open rny distal). I know I should be grateful for the 31 pounds and yes I have lost over 36 inches. I weigh weekly and the scale has not moved one pound in 3 weeks. I added extreme pure protein to my daily plan, one drink a day. I take in about 900 to 1000 calories a day. I try to drink at least 66 oz of water a day. I don't exercise daily but I do get in at least 4 miles of walking a week and I walk up and down stairs all day at work. I guest I just need someone out there to say it is alright. Because somewhere deep inside that old fear of failure is creeping in.    — [Anonymous] (posted on February 27, 2002)

You've done wonderfuly in your inches, and that's what I'd worry about. I had a 76 BMI when I started, and while I've had a steady weight loss, it is below "normal" and my PCP probably would've smacked me yesterday if it was a professional treatment when I complained about my weight loss :) So you're not alone! Sounds like you've hit a temporary platou, and it sounds like you're doing ok otherwise... Just hang in there... we're still "losers", and that was the important part of this :) Good luck!

Go to my profile, I was in the same boat as you, even my surgeon thought I was losing slow! That ticked me off for I was doing everything I was supposed to. I guess it has all worked out in the end though, I just don't lose steady. I had a BMI of 60.distal RNY Good luck...marie
