Wow. Wish I could do the "you can do it" kinda cheerleading. I'm
not good at it, so read the post below 10-12 times, OK? I'm a hands-on
kinda girl. I play games with my munchie attacks. I iuse protein drinks
like a shield against food. I can have the (forbidden item), but I just
have to drink THIS protein drink first (in addition to the required ones,
thruout the day). Rarely does my craving survive the onslaught of pure
nutrition & that slight filling of my belly. I'm not gonna try to be
brave & fight food with wil power. Didn't work before, wont work now.,
I just use whatever tool is handy to keep ME in the driver's seat. 8 yrs,
still working, Might not work tomorrow, but it works just fine today.

I too try to have either protein or a big glass of water with lemon first
in case I'm only head hungry and not stomach hungry. BUT when I really
HAVE to snack (right before my "time of the month") Salty/crunchy
= toasted soynuts and/or mixed nuts creamy = SF FF pudding made with an
extra scoop of powdered milk for extra calcium and protein spicy = jerky
or slim jim's cold/icy = sf popscicles or sugar free ice cream. These
choices still get some protein in or very little carbs/sugar in. Good luck
to you! Leah

Hi! I had my surgery a week after you and started out at 360 lbs. I find
I want to munch when I am frustrated, bored or angry. I head to the fridge
and get a piece of whatever meat we had the night before and wrap a slice
of cheese around it. It takes time to eat it so it fills and satisfies,
plus it is all protein. Sipping Carnation Instant Breakfast (NSA) in 1%
milk also adds protein and calcium. The protein shakes work for many but
my surgeon wants us to get all our protein from food. Find out what works
for you. Sometimes just concentrating on what to have instead of grabbing
something, will take the desire away.
