Question:
I am 6 weeks post op and have only lost 26 lbs

I lost 20lbs prior to surgery with a total of 46lbs, but 26lbs after 6 weeks doesnt seem like much.    — Judy W. (posted on August 25, 2003)

Only 26lbs? That sounds pretty good to me.

All of us lose in different ways--I am 10 weeks and 40 lbs. loss--many others have lost more--some less. Make sure you get your water, protein, and food in starvation and dehydration can stop the tool and if you are not exercising you may not lose.

You've lost over 4 pounds a week. At that rate, that's 100 pounds in 6 months. How much faster were you wanting? Did you not do the math?

Congrats on the 26 pounds. I had lost 21 pounds at my 2 week post-op appt. and at my 6 week, I was down only 6 more for a total of 27 pounds at 6 weeks. So, it looks to me like you're doing fine. It will come off, we just have to be patient.

How much did you expect to lose at 6 weeks? At 26lbs you are ahead of where I was at that time. Congrats at the weight loss. My suggestion is that you look at the weight loss planner on AMOS. It may give you a better perspective of your loss. Not everyone stays close to the chart, but it will give you a good idea of where you should be.

I am 7 wks post-op tomorrow and I have lost 35 lbs....just a tad ahead of you. I'm like Sonia, I am happy with my loss even though it is slower than others I have read about because never have I lost this much in 7 wks and actually kept it off. I try not to weigh every day but sometimes I can't help it. I get a little down when I go for 5 days with no loss but at the same time it is good motivation to concentrate on doing the right thing.....particularly getting in all my water and increasing my protein. Then when the scale does drop another pound, it makes my day!

I am 6wks post op today and have lost 24lbs. I hit a platue for almost 3 weeks!!!! Over the weekend it broke thank goodness. I feel like everything is finally coming together. I have found a super protein powder that I feel is making the difference. Just this week I am pain free and have more energy. I am staying positive and sure I will lose more soon! BTW, the protein powder is Unjury. It tastes just like chocolate milk. I have never found one I could tolerate before this.
