Monica everyone's weight loss is different. It depends on how much you have to lose and how much you are exercising. At 6 months out, I was down 78 pounds. I should note that I am religious about exercising. If you don't exercise you are not taking full advantage of the tool. Remember, everyone is different.

Monica... I think alot depends on your starting weight as well... you don't say whether you were a "lightweight" when you started, so it's hard to gauge. Plus, as the previous poster stated, everyone's weight loss is so different. I would say speak to your surgeon... is he or she happy with your progress?? Best wishes & God bless!!

Monica- I read through your profile and with your starting stats, you probably should have lost more by now. It seems that you know you aren't drinking enough water or exercising enough. How is your eating? Are you getting in enough protein? Are you staying away from carbs? Are you eating enough? Find a support group if you aren't using your tool properly. If you are working the tool (be sure to up the water and exercise!), check with your surgeon about the slow loss. Good luck to you.

But to answer your question, no I don't think that having lost 50 pounds in 6 months is terrible. Pre-op on various diets, I was never able to lose more than 40 pounds in 9 months. You must be feeling better than you did 6 months ago - that's progress!

Its not terrible at all, in fact, its wonderful! Now, can you do more to speed up the process? Yes..like regular heart pumping cardio exercise, upping your protein and water, eating small and frequent meals, and if you are eating carbs and sweets, try to minimize. Everyone loses different amounts at different times. all we can do is maximize the pouch rules, eat right, and let our bodies do the rest.
