By my 18 month, I'd lost 147 and to this day haven't lost anymore. I'm 5'6 and wear 8/10's. I'd say check with your doctor. Even with what I weigh now I'm still considered overweight. Make sure you're taking your vitamins and getting regular check ups. It's so important to stay on top of things. Congratulations on your weight loss. Lisa in Alabama

i am just over 15 months post op and I am a little concerned about my weight loss not stopping either. I was a size 22 and 244 lbs at 5' 2 when I had surgery. i am now 116 lbs and a size 1-3! I am bones with skin hanging on. IThe weight has slowed down but it hasn't stopped and I am past goal. I have increased my caloric intake slightly but it hasn't stopped it. I take all my vitamins and prescribtions as directed and I just had blood work done last week and every thing was perfect. I feel very lucky and I know I shouldn't complain but at what point do I really begin to worry? My surgeon says I am past goal but my PCP says I can lose another 5-7 lbs and still be fine and my other doctor says I can go to 100 lbs even!!! That doesn't sound right to me! I plan to go with my surgeon's opinion but like the original poster how do I stop the weight loss.

I would suggest you increase your protein consumption. You should be drinking at least 3 protein shakes a day. Don't drink Boost or Ensure but any other protein powder with calories about about 120-125 per serving is good. I wouldn't suggest mixing it with milk. Instead mix with either water or Hood Carb Countdown milk (less sugar)

I am 15 months post op. I am 5'10" weigh 145 and am wearing a size 6/10. What my dietician told me was to up my calories and to start drinking while I eat. No a lot, but some. I tried the uping the protein thing and it did not work, I actually lost more quickly. So she said add calories. So I snack in between meal now. Some also say to add more carbs, but they do not sit well with me, so I still limit them. Bridget

Don't fret over it, you will stop losing. Then after 6mos to a year later you will gain a little bit back. I felt I was losing too much and tried for a year to put back on 5 lbs. I ate EVERYTHING in site even though my nutritionist said to just up the eating, but not the bad stuff. Still no gain. Then BOOM I packed on 15 lbs in 2-3 monts. I've taken back off most of that and am good where I am at, but the gain will creep up on you eventually. Good luck~~Rebecca

If you have a high protein intake you will lose weight. High protein intake will cause the body to burn fat for energy; which could also be affecting your weight loss if you are also exercising. Frequent eating throughout the day and exercise will also increase your metabolism creating fat burning and weight loss. See your nutritionist on how to adjust your diet accordingly. Your body knows it's own requirements in which it needs to function properly. So you may continue to lose weight for a while but then gain some back later. See your doctor.

Let me second Rebecca's experience. I, too, got too thin for awhile, even overshot goal by more than 20 pounds (bottomed out at 124 pounds at 5' 7 1/2"). I parked at a low weight (128-130 lbs) for awhile (roughly 14-20 months post-op), then started eating too much junk, slowly reversed that low weight to a healthy one (through my 2nd year post-op) (around 140), then overshot that and need to take off 10 lbs. now (almost 3 years post-op) (now 150 -- 140's just best for me, especially considering I've had an LBL so I'm not carting too much extra skin around anymore).
I don't think most of us who get too thin stay too thin for too long. Just add in additional healthy snacks and, if you're an exercise fiend, cut out a session or two each week until your weight stabilizes. That worked well for me but it took time. What doesn't work well is playing around with sugar (a real unhealthy weight-gainer).
I wouldn't recommend breaking the pouch rules . . . because like Rebecca said, one day, even those of us who get too skinny initially can wind up having to be vigilant against too much regain, just like everybody else.

I am 15 months out and 150 pounds gone for ever.I had a very hard time with my weight loss. I lost alot in a short time, but I also have problems stopping. I actually now am anorexic. I was just so afraid of gaining any weight back, that I obsessed on tha, and I literally quit eating and drinking. Not good, plase don't anyone ever do that. I was committing medical suicide. It hasn't been pretty. I am still malnourished and it is taking alot out of me to get back on track. Good luck! ~~~MARI~~~

I would start writing down everything you are eating (when, where and how much). Add some carbs to your diet. The body will attack the carbs first. When you only consume protein the body attack the fat cells first. If you add carbs this may help. I would consult with your doctor also. Are you eating 6 meals a day, 3 balanced meals plus 3 high protein snacks. You should be consuming at least 1/2 cup of solid food per meal or 8 oz or 8 1/2 oz of liquid per meal. You may think your eating more food but you may not really until you see it it writing. Consult your doctor also. You should still be visiting your doctor every year and as issues come. Good luck.
