Question:
Can the stomach be divided in lap surgery?
I'm very interested in having the surgery done by laparoscopy, if possible. Can the stomach be divided using this technique, or can this only be done as part of an open procedure? — Judith B. (posted on May 28, 1999)

Yes it can. Mine was divided leaving a small pouch attached directly to
the jejunum. The other half of my stomach and the duodonem were attached
below the small pouch so that stomach acid and bile salts would still be
emptied into the intestine for digestion. All done via lapararoscopy and
just a little over 1 hour!
