Question:
Did any of the Diabetics here have trouble healing or getting infections?

I am a chronic diabetic for 21 years. I have had trouble healing in the past. That is something I worry about as I am sure you all have at one time. I am an amputee and have had to take a lot of antibiotics to heal my leg. Should I worry about the surgery site?    — Breakaway_1 (posted on June 28, 2001)

I have not had my WLS surgery yet. I am scheduled for an Open RNY on 8-14-01. But, I have been a diabetic for about 3 years. About two years ago I had emergency hernia surgery. My incision healed with no problems. My scar is long, but in some places it has disappeared. The binder they gave me helped a lot. 29 years earlier I had a C-section. I wasn't a diabetic then, but my incision healed thick and ugly compared to my hernia incision.
