It must be really frustrating for you to feel like you aren't losing weight quickly. I'm sorry you're having to go through it! I, myself, am only 10 days out, and felt like that at first. In fact, I weighed more leaving the hospital than when I was admitted! Talk about a bummer! But I was reassured it was the fluid they pump through you continuously during your stay. Maybe you're still getting rid of that fluid and therefore not feeling much different than before you went in? And once you finish losing weight from the excess fluid, maybe then you'll notice a difference as the weightloss starts chiseling off your true pre-op body, not the bloated version you left the hospital in! (at least in my case!) Also, just in general, you're probably still recouping from the surgery and if you're like me, you're up and running errands but generally resting quite a bit still. Once you get further post-op and are up to exercising, that'll probably give you a jump on losing. Have you measured yourself? Try doing that and see if you lose some imches. To me, it doesn't matter whether its pounds or inches as long as SOME number lowers! Do your clothes feel differently yet? Also, people may not recognize the weight loss at first, which I bet can make someone pretty disappointed. Why not? Who doesn't love to hear they're withering away to nothingness? :) But, I just keep thinking that when I was 130 pounds and lost 5 pounds, it was noticable immediately b/c my body was already so slim. In fact, that's practically a clothing size! Now that I'm 270, I figure I may need to lose 20 pounds to get the same feedback I had with the 5 pound loss previously. I also think that clothing sizes in this weight range require more of a loss before the tag size starts dwindling. I know that at 240, I wore 22's and at 260 wore 22's. (shrug) So don't be too bummed if it takes forever to get to a different size. I'm figuring I'll have to lose 30 pounds before I see a 20! You're in it for the long haul, girlie. You WILL lose that weight! You'll probably be surprised how much you have already lost by the end of your first month! I kow I can't wait. Keep me posted as to how you do and write me if you'd like. Good luck, Lori!

I am at 14 days post op and just wanted to let you know, do not get discouraged. The weight will come off. Try and focus on getting your proper nutrution (which can be hard) and trying to exercise as well as you can tolerate. Your body is still healing. Not everyone will lose at the same rate. Before you know it you will be melting away toward a healthier you !

Take time to peruse the archives (I mean that nicely). You will see that this question is asked alot and you are not alone. You can also see that every month this question is asked at 4 weeks, 6 weeks, 10 weeks 6 mos. You will learn that at some point all of us feel this way. Then look at the weight loss charts for those samle people and you will see that the weight finally did come off. Hang in there - 2 weeks PO is too soon to judge your weight loss. My best regards -

I too had lost very little at 2 weeks, I was a little discouraged but fear not.....the weight will come off. What you have achieved at 2 weeks is IN NO WAY any indication of what your overall success will be. Just follow your Dr.'s instructions and have faith.
