Question:
I know this is going to sound stupid

but are there any post ops out that that have experienced excrutiating feet pain and then have it go away after losing some weight? I swear sometimes it seems as thoug all of the bones in my feet have literrally crumbled! I know it is because of all of the excess weight I carry around and was wondering if it will go away after the surgery. Thank you.    — Happy B. (posted on October 8, 2001)

I have bilateral heal spurs and arthritis. I've lost 95 pounds and my feet are much happier now.

Why on earth would you think this might sound stupid? Good God, my feet hurt before surgery! But now, it's like they are brand new feet! They feel so very good!

I hadnt thought about it mbut my feet USED to ache. my 70+ pound loss has elminated my foot, ankle, and knee pain. I had surgery on my left knee 3 years ago and it ached every day since then untill a a few weeks post op.

That's a great question! I had "bad feet" my whole adult life ....I was also MO my whole adult life. Foot pain was a fact of life for me, right along with, ugly orthopedic shoes, inserts, mole skin, thick socks yada yada yada. The fatter I got the worse my feet got. The good news is that my foot pain went away after I lost about 50lbs. I don't know exactly when...I just know that a few months after my rny, I realized that my feet didn't hurt anymore. It was like a miracle. If I'd never lost another pound after that first 50, I still would have been a happy lady because that's all it took to rid myself of the foot pain and the sleep apnea. Both of the problems were gone with just a 50lb. weight loss.
