Question:
Anyone know of a support group in the Denver, CO area?
I have been winging post op alone and now I'm finding out I need support Big time!! If anyone knows of a group in the Denver Metro area, I would appreciate the info. If not then maybe I should start my own. Thanks! — Carey N. (posted on October 25, 2001)

There's a support group at Kaiser, although not just Kaiser patients
attend, held the 2nd Monday every month at 6:00. They meet at St. Josephs
Hosp., Pavillions, west side of the hospital. They'd love to meet you.

Carey, there is a support group in Denver that is run by a Registered
Dietician who specializes in gastric bypass patients. She has several
sessions every month at different locations and on differing days, for
example, every other Friday, etc. If I remember correctly from your
profile you live down south, our next meeting in that area is at Littleton
Hospital on Friday November 9th at 6:30 p.m. Hope this helps.

Just so you know. The groups that Kelly Elliot runs cost $10 per meeting.
I refuse to pay for them since the only one I went to had only 5 people in
attendance. She says it's because she has to pay speakers, but I'm not
buying that. There is also a free support group that meets the first
Friday of the month in Littleton. If you join the Yahoo OSSG-Colorado
group, you'll get notified of all the metro area support group meetings.

Here is some information on a Colorado Springs, CO Weight Loss Surgery
Support Group - Meets 2nd/4th Friday of each month at Penrose Cancer Center
- 100 E. Monroe Street in Conference Room A (Penrose Main Hospital) from
6:30 - 8:30. It is FREE and group members come from Denver down to Pueblo!

Hi! There are at least 2 support groups that I know of. One meets at St.
Anthony's North on some Thurs. nights (6-8 pm) & one Sat. a month (8:30
am). Dr. Snyder sponsors this group but you don't have to be a patient of
his. Upcoming 2003 dates are: Feb 6, 15, 27 / March 6, 15 & 20 /
April 3, 12, 17 / May 8, 12, 22 / June 14, 19, 26. Hope to see you there!
