Question:
Need to hear from post-ops of Dr. Titus Duncan

I am thinking of going with Dr. Titus Duncan in the Atlanta area and would like to hear from post-ops who are at least 3 years out who have had him as their surgeon. Thanks, Jeralyn    — Jeralyn Merideth (posted on April 8, 2002)

Here is a link to his page here on AMOS. Here you will find members comments with links to their profiles and e-mail addresses. Maybe you could e-mail them your specific questions. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/mdcomments.phtml?N=966373686 Hope this helps. Shelley

I am a patient of Dr. Duncan. Here is the low down on him: (1) Never had one death (2) Originally a lap specialist, not a wls surgeon (3) Teaches a class with Dr. Champion, another atlanta surgeon who is a wls pioneer, but often has upfront costs (4) Has the best best side manner and sense of humor in the WHOLE world (5) BAD THING---you will wait for at least an hour to see him, except for your first weigh in, they see you ASAP (6) His office staff can be swayed by flowers, candy and begging. I had surgery less than 2 weeks after my first appt. due to begging. They acted as if they couldnt help me, but they did and told me to keep it to myself--OOPS! (7) Post op there is no established after care. You see the doc as much as you want and once a month, but the support group is having a rough time getting started (8) he has done patients as big as 600 pounds, he is good (9) works with Dr. Miller. They perform all surgeries together as a team---wow what a great idea! (10) Since he is getting really popular waits are up to four months. (11)I absolutely love him and I have lost over 140 pounds in 8 months.

Okay I didnt read---3 years out. I think he has only been doing this for 5-7 years you may be hard pressed to find a member of this site at 3 years. I had surgery in July and could barely find 2 people with him at all. Call the office and tell them what you want. They can give you some referrals. Sorry--I will learn to read next time!

Hi Courtney! No problem. I'm just glad to have had some answers. I also recently called the office and was told that he does TRANSECT, so I'm REALLY psyched about that! I am now looking into getting a packet from him :-) Thanks again, Jeralyn
