Question:
How long do plateus typically last

I am 4.5 months post-op. I've lost 75 pounds so far. BUT---I've been stuck for 3 weeks! I don't do measurements again until the 11th. I don't want to cheat on that - it only makes me depressed that I haven't lost more. Any suggestions on how to break this? It's making me crazy!    — Tiffany S. (posted on November 30, 2002)

I have hit many plateus in 4 months. It is very hard and drives me crazy too. Last week my doctor said I Was not getting enough protein and water. So now I started taking that nasty liq protein and drink water all the time. It's working!! lost 5 lb this past week. I thought I was getting enough protein in. Then I really started counting my protein grams and I was only getting 30grams not 60grams. Only about 30oz water a day.Now I do alot better. So try to take time and really watch what you put in your body. It really does count.

A true plateu is no weight loss for 4 weeks, and once the 4 weeks hits, it could last for weeks....however, depending on how far out you are it could last for months.....You are only 4 months....I hit a good 5 week no loss in month 4 but I lost tons of inches....it takes 6 months for your skin to catch up with your weight loss....so when you are not losing weight, you are losing inches....Both TOTALLY COOL in my book. Once you hit a certain point, you really slow down. I lost 22 pounds a month for the 1st 3 months, then only 34 pounds in the next 3 months, however, that still meant 100 pounds in 6 months....I am still amazed....but during those 3 months I thought I was not losing anything at all. The last 3 weeks only 3 pounds....But I know that on my 1st year anniversary I will look back and be pleased with whatever I have lost because I and my surgeon expected 100 pounds in 10 months to 1 year....My personal goal when I had my surgery was 120 pounds in 1 year.....I am only 13 pounds and 5 1/2 months to go......Good luck
