Question:
How long are your Heparin bruises still showing?

I read the library for previous questions on this and everyone seems to agree on the fact that they have bruises or discolorations on the sites where Heparin was injected in the hospital. My question is HOW LONG was it till yours went away? I am 5 months postop and I still have 'em.    — Valerie H. (posted on December 21, 2002)

I was given heparin for the entire six days I was in the hospital. I was given my shots in my belly just under my belly button. That whole area is shades of yellow, green and blue and I will be 7 weeks post op on Monday. Hugs, Kim S. Open RNY Nov. 4/02 (-38 lbs.)

I am 4 1/2 months post-op and still have the bruising from my Heparin shots. I was concerned until I saw your question, now feel that is OK. AUG 5-02 (77 lbs)

Hello. I am 9 months post op with a total loss of 150 lbs. After 9 months I still have huge bruises on my thighs from the heparin injections. This was a small price to pay for such a wonderful outcome.
