This is for the previous poster - Alana, consider yourself lucky. I've lost that much in 7 weeks and I'm sick all the time. I can't tell you how many hours I've wasted on my knees in the last 3 weeks.

Alana, you have been majorily misinformed on what the surgery does for patients. It doesn't make you not able to eat sweets. In some patients the bypassing makes you not able to tolerate sweets (aka dumping) but some patients can still tolerate sweets. If you test yourself by eating sweets, you take the chance of finding out you can tolerate sweets and then must rely strictly on will power. Anyone can eat sweets if they want to. They might dump, they might not. I choose not too because I don't want to find out that I can tolerate sweets. The success of surgery is not based on if you dump from sugar or not. It's a smaller stomach pouch that only lets you eat so much at a meal. I'm not sure how far out you are, but ONLY 37 pounds sounds great to me. When's the last time you lost that much? You will only get out of the surgery, what you put into the surgery. Hang in there. It works

I really feel that you also have to work with the surgery, after all, it is only a tool that will HELP you lose weight. Have you considered why you wanted the surgery to begin with? Are you willing to work for having a healthier and thinner you? How much research did you do on the surgery before you had the surgery? Maybe it wasn't enough or maybe you were misinformed. Good Luck, it IS worth it, hang in there and work with the surgery!

I had the RNY June 11,2003 and have only lost 65-70 lbs in almost a year. That was all lost the first 6 months and I have not lost a single pound since Christmas 2002. I know the depression and desperation. Nothing moves a single pound. Feel free to write me. georgia horton
