Question:
What can I expect immediately following procedure & in the next year following?

I'm so scared of having a tummy-tuck and breast augmentation, but I need to have it done. I would like to know what kinds of things to expect following the surgery. Is it true that you go around with drainage tubes for a week that are then removed along with sutures? What is the actual pain like (scale 1-10) and how long until you are up & about? I had the lap rny 2 years ago and was told that the plastic surgery will actually be more evasive and have more chances of complications than the by-pass. Anyone experience long-term problems with either tummy-tuck or breast augementation? Any info anyone can give me I would greatly appreciate. Also, is there anyone out there who had either of these procedures performed by Dr. Mark Migliori in Minnesota? Thanks :)    — Andrea H. (posted on April 7, 2003)

Hi Andrea, I've learned a lot from the folks at the Yahoo support group for post-WLS people. Here's the addy http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ossg-plasticsurgery/ I highly recommend reading and posting there to get answers to your questions. But as a general reply to your question, from what I've heard abdominoplasty can be a bit more painful recovery than gastric bypass but I don't believe the risk is greater.
