I am a firm beliefver in the faact that this surgery works if you work it. Unless someone has something physically wrong with there pouch there is no reason why they cannot lose the weight. The first thing that many people do is wonder if there is something wrong with their pouch as opposed to looking at their habits. It is scary that people still go into this thinking that they will just lose weight effortlessly and never worry or work again. I think hat if you are having a hard time post op the best thing to do is get support and plenty of it. I actually think that we should all do that hard time or not. See any professional that might help as well. I see a nutritionist every week and always have and without her I doubt I would have had the success I have so far. We are trying to, and must in the long run, change a lifetime of destructive eating habits. If we don't, yes, we will fail. Good luck.

This same questions runs through my head every day. I keep wondering if it is going to work for me. I think at 7 weeks post-op that I can still eat an amazing amount of foods with no problem. Why didn't I turn out to be one of those people who are so turned off by food and never hungry that the weight just melts off of them? Everytime I feel like this someone tells me to follow the rules and you will lose weight. Protein, water and exercise... those are the rules. Drink when you feel "hungry" because sometimes your body tells you that you are hungry and really you are thirsty. Measure your portions and cut yourself off from the eating and only eat 3 meals a day. This sounds like a familiar routine doesn't it? Maybe the surgery didn't impact our lives quite as STRONG as we wanted it to... I don't know... and maybe in the back of our minds we thought that we would not have to put forth so much effort like we did before to lose the weight... but we do. I can say even though my weight loss has been minimal (to me it is anyway) I am feeling a lot better. Aren't you? We just have to be patient and wait for our "miracle"... and follow the rules along the way. God bless you in your journey!

I consider myself a failure. I'm 9 months out of surgery and have lost only 40 pounds. Yep, 40 pounds. And, 13 of that was with Atkins. I did everything I was supposed to do, but with little results. I never in a million years imagined I could fail at this, but it happened.
