Question:
Am I done losing?
I posted this on the main board too, hoping for responses. Next Sunday I will be exactly 5 months out. To date I have only lost 56 pounds since surgery. On December 18 I was 176. Today I am 174. I have consistantly been a slow loser, but not this slow. I still have 39 pounds to go, and I haven't changed what I was doing when I was losing. Is the honeymoon over, and the weight loss gone? Is my body now just used to this "diet"? I have lost 59% of my excess weight since surgery, but I was hoping for so much more. — Sandy A. (posted on January 12, 2004)

Change something - diet or exercise pattern. I'm over a year out now.
Stayed at the same weight for about 3 months - then started exercising more
and cutting carbs. Do something to shake up your metabolism. The weight is
coming off again. Dieting the old fashioned way is sooooo much easier now!
Good Luck!

I cant tell from your profile. But it sounds like u need to get a gym
membership and start to sweat. The surgery is only a tool and you have to
exercise in order to continue to lose weight. You can continue to lose as
long as YOU exercise and watch what you eat.

Sandy, whats your rush? You were a lightweight to begin with so the weight
loss will come off slower. Keep in mind that you have a good year or more
to lose that 39 so plenty of time. You said that you haven't changed what
you were doing when losing. Perhaps thats the clue. Change something!
Cardio is good, but mix it up-faster pace, or add an extra 5 minutes or do
5 minutes less. Try a new cardio routine. Water? Up the water.
Calories? Add 200 calories a day for a few weeks (yes, I said add), and
then take it away X 2 weeks. If eating 3 meals a day, go to 5 or 6 mini
meals. Carbs? Snacking? If so, cut back some. Sometimes thats all it
takes.
