Question:
My appetite has suddenly decreased...
I'm 7 weeks post-op (open distal RNY); I lost 54 lbs. so far. In the beginning I went through terrible cravings; my head-hunger was huge. As soon as I started my protein drinks, it diminished greatly, but did get hungry when it came time for the real food meals. Now, at 7 weeks, I can't finish my 2oz. meal; I don't want to even eat it at all, but I know I have to put something in. But most of the time, the dog ends up finishing it. I do have some slight nausea and have been terribly constipated (took Milk of Mag, which takes care of that problem). And I'm still working on my water goal each day. I'm also getting in 60 gr. protein ea. day. I do get a hungry feeling at meal times, but as soon as the food comes under my nose, I can't eat it. I feel like I'll get sick to my stomach. Is there a problem here? Could it be related to the summer heat? — lalasmommy (posted on July 11, 2001)

HI - I just wanted to let you know that I am 6 1/2 weeks post op and
experience the same things...and you are not alone. However, I must
commend you..I am NOT getting all my protein in. Good Luck and hopefully
this nauseousness will go away for us. Karan

It sounds silly, but I found that breath savers sugar-free spearmint life
savers really helped me with the nausea!
