Question:
Women, did your extensive abdominoplasty (TT)....

Did your extensive abdominoplasty improve the tone of your pelvic region in general? I've heard everything (rumors) of improvements in incontinence issues, to vaginal tightness, to some people claiming that the lifting action even fixed their cystoceles. What have your results been? I would certainly like more tone in this area but feel a little embarrassed asking a whole lot of questions at my plastic surgery pre-op appointment in a few weeks because my lover will be there with me. :-) I will ask a few, but I'm not going to dig for the gorey details, so I'd be glad for some anecdotal information from those of you that have had this done. I'm also having a burn scar revision, a brachioplasty and either two or three zones of liposuction done at the same time, a seven hour set of procedures, and I'm fairly nervous. Thanks for any info.    — Julia Z. (posted on June 26, 2002)

Some surgeons DO pick that area up, some do not. Insist on seeing before/after pix. Be sure that IS part of the plan. Hopefully, he'll pull enough to tighten your upper thighs a bit, too. The way mine eas done, EVERYTHING came up, OR went down (to meet), making my skin way tooo small for my body for 4 months or so. LOL! It was worth it!

LOL...funny you should ask that question...I am 2 weeks post TT and my surgeon did cut along the sides of my "coochie"...I was "lifted and tucked" in that area (much to my husband's thrill). Has it changed incontinence issues or any other such thing? I don't think so at this point. And as far as sexual side effects, at this point, I think that I am still to new post op to really have a good idea about that yet. I know my husband likes being able to "find" it all now instead of digging under mounds of flesh...but that's another story LOL. Take care and good luck...and go ahead and ask those questions...it's nothing they haven't heard before and if those are issues for you...hey, bring 'em up and out in the open!! Have a sparkling day!! ~CAE~

I just went for a plastic surgery consult yesterday... and the doc wouldnt let my husband in until after he drew all over me and explained the procedure and told ME all about it... he didnt want me to not ask questions because I was in front of my husband. I was a little embarrassed so I was also glad my husband wasnt in there. The doc explained that when we gained all the weight our clitoris was pushed back and hidden by a thick pad of fat. Having the tummy tuck actually exposes it again and we gain sensitivity. The surgeon wanted to explain that to me alone and I appreciated the modesty. You are better off doing the physical exam without your lover and later on bringing him in... if you are embarassed to discuss these things in front of him he doesnt belong in there and the doctors office respects and encourages your privacy because of this. In fact I was there with a girlfriend and they would let us be together for any part of the exam or discussion as well.

Visit my abdominoplasty webpage at http://www.angelfire.com/journal2/surgery for more details.. But for the short answer.. Being as heavy as I was at my beginning weight of 367 that particular area was very wide & bulbous.. I asked my surgeon to fix that area also .. Because when I lost 227 pounds that area drooped and hung much like the panni ... So I got what some referred to as muff tuck.. Ladies it's very well worth it.. :) Need I say more :)

I had a tummy tuck in Feb don't get me wrong I am happy with it but my pubic area resembles a scrotum with no penis. At least that is how my husband described it. I wish my Dr would have tucked that too but he didn't so now I have to try to figure out how to get that fixed or just leave it as it is. The only one looking at it is my husband and my gyno and I don't think she cares one way or the other. Please make sure you ask your Dr about this it is very important I wish I had asked.
