Carrie, you will make it. Make sure you eat your protien, and change up your exercize to keep your body going. I know I have been telling everyone, but using the Keto Stix to see the fat is melting is a great way to keep motivated. I would bet you will be at goal by spring.

Actually for you height you can weigh up to 170 and still be in a normal weight range (BMI of 25). This surgery is supposed to help you loose approx. 70% of your excess body weight. You have 200 pounds of excess weight. 70% of that would be a 140 pound loss, putting you at 230. That would mean your surgery was a success. Not everyone looses all of their weight. I am 5'4" and my doctor's goal for me was 155. Don't be too worried about the numbers, just how you feel and your quality of life. Good luck!

Hi! Me too, me too! I'm 5'9 1/2, 366-376 pounds and pre-op RNY open distal scheduled for 8/14. My surgeon said that I can expect to get down to 250 or 200, but that seems waaayy too high to me. I want to get to at most 170. 150 would be a dream come true. I have asked other tall women to post and I think that if we really work this "tool" the first year that we will meet our goals. Good luck to you! Please keep in touch!

110lbs! Great for you! I have confidence that you will be very successful in reaching your goal. Exercise is key. Most people that I talk to say that exercise is the to secret to their success. Of course your calorie intake is important too but the excercise helps. Good Luck!!

Certainly it's possible and I hope you reach that goal. But not everyone does. My surgeon told me that I could expect to lose 70% of my excess weight. At 370, that meant a 155 weightloss for me. I was sure I'd lose more than that. But, I was wrong. I never did break that 200 mark. I stabilized at 220. When I got complacent and stopped working out and started binging on carbs, my weight shot up to 250. But, I lost 30 pounds easily when I went back to basics. However, I simply cannot lose another pound...no matter what I do. I'm not complaining. My surgeon considers me to be a success and so do I. Life is good now. I just think it's important for you to hear from the other side.

I started at 373, though I am much shorter than you. I had surgery 14 months ago, and I weigh 186 today, and I am still losing. I expect to get to 150ish in the next few months. I just really watch what I eat, but my surgeon has a very strict postop diet. Much stricter than most others. That's one of the reasons I chose him. Faith
