Question:
Will wellbutrin make you gain weight? Has anyone had any luck with medicine.

Wellbutrin is supposed to be a 'weight neutral' drug. In fact, my doc just
put me on it yesterday and I double checked with my surgeon and he said
that it ws the one that he suggested. So...we'll see what everyone else
says but if I gain weight..I'm gonna be sad :-(

I to am on wellbutrin, my doctor took me off of prozaz a couple of weeks
before surgery, something about prozac makes you want to eat more???,
however wellbutrtin is just as good, but as far as weight gain before
surgery I didnt notice a differnce.

I don't have any problems with weight gain. I have been taking this for a
month now to help me quit smoking, and it does cause sleep problems. I am
constantly waking up at night, and have a hard time falling back to sleep.

Actually, my physician reports that many patients lose a bit of weight on
Welbutrin, as it acts somewhat like an appetite suppressant. Let's hope
that we are among the "many"! LOL.

Bridget, I've been taking Wellbutrin since august and I have a bit of
trouble with sleep also. cant seem to get to sleep if I wake up in the
middle of the night. Ugh. but no weight gain from it. Plus I've been
Smoke free since August 17th!

My sister takes Wellbutrin and she says that it helps her lose weight.
I've read that it often times has an appetite suppressant effect.

Hey,
I have been on wellbutrin for a long time. I have been on it on and off for
over 10yrs (had a few breaks), but it never made me gain weight. It did
help me quit smoking easier (after smoking 19yrs), and I didn't gain any
weight while quitting. I can't take the wellbutrin to close to bedtime
though because it can effect my sleep. I used to take my last dose at like
5 or 6ish, now I take it around 8-9pm. watch that you don't take too much
too close together. Discuss this with your doc.

My dad has had great luck with Wellbutrin. The drug didn't make him gain
weight though- eating more did, when he was quitting smoking.
Took him a little bit of time to stop blaming the Wellbutrin, lighten up
his meals, and the Wellbutrin was a blessing.
