You might try browsing thru other patients profiles here by using find a peer, and see if they are listed. DO attend support group meetings, they help so much and socializing with post ops enables you to learn so much.

I am a recent post op patient with Dr. Munshi. He ia a very good surgeon. He is also a critical care (trauma) surgeon. Through this site you can click on to the mass medical licenseing board to look at all the dr's credentials. I had a very positive experience with him and Baystate Medical Center. When I had my surgery I had an unknown very large cyst in my abdomen that they removed with no problems, so my surgery was much more extensive then had been planned. Dr. Munshi also showed me pictures of what he did.I am around three weeks post op and have very little discomfort. The office has a great follow up program with a nutrionist, and multiple support groups meeting every month. He couldn't be in better hands.

I had surgery 11/5/01 with Dr Coe. I had no problems whatsoever. I did have nausea but it was manageable with meds. I had no pain with the epidural PCA at all,i woke up in recovery and couldn't believe they did the surgery,NO pain at all.The hospital was great(Baystate Medical) nurses were caring and everthing went smoothly.Dr Coe was wonderful, I haven't met Dr Munshi but a close friend goes to him for followup(He had a different surgeon, who left the area) and likes him very much. There is a support group that meets monthly, lots of men for your brother-in-law to talk to. Hope this helps! Denise (down 40lbs in 8 weeks)

I'm scheduled for RNY LAP surgery on 2/25/02. I've met with both Dr. Munshi and Dr. Earle at the practice, they do the LAP procedure together for RNY. I've been very impressed with the office staff and the Doctors so far. Process is long though - need to have a psych eval and an abdomen ultrasound, both of which book up very quickly. The Drs. just started doing the LAP procedure if your brother is interested. Can your brother log onto this site at all? So much good information. any questions, please email me. Hope this helps!!

I am having an open RNY with Dr. Munshi on Feb. 5th - he is pretty easy to look at, lol! He is also very easy to talk to. You should come to the support groups along with your brother in law, you will learn so much, everyone is open and helpful. The meetings are the 1st and 3rd Wed of the month usually. This month it is Jan. 23rd, at Chestnut building at Baystate from 6 - 8 p.m. Come introduce yourself and join a wonderful gang of people!
