Question:
Anyone with WLS taking Depo-Provera for Birth Control

I have been on the Depo shot for a couple of years. I had my WLS in Early Dec and I am due for my next shot. Right before I am due for my depo shot I always get bad PMS symtoms. The past two weeks I have not lost anything. Should I expect this every time I am due for a shot and how long after the shot do you usually see the weight loss again. I have to see my surgeon on Friday and I am afraid he will be disappointed in my weight loss. I know everyone is different, but can someone give me their personnal experience. Thanks    — Kathy P. I am on Depo, and have had absolutely no problems since surgery. I too get somewhat PMS like before my next shot, and didn't notice it too much last time. It sounds like you're on a plateau. Since you're not ovulating on Depo, it's unlikely that there would be the common water retention people get during their period. Everyone gets stuck on plateaus. I would suggest you examine your diet and excercise, as it's much more likely your plateau is caused by that. Try upping your calorie intake by adding a protein shake or something. That might kick start your weight loss again. Hope this helps. Just my two cents!

I have been on the depo shot for 5 years and open rny on aug 14-01. I have lost 96 pounds and haven't noticed any change in my weight loss. I have pms like symptoms very sporaticly before my next shot - sometimes I have it, sometimes not. I wouldn't worry about it.
