Question:
What kind of juice am I supposed to buy?
All of the juices I looked at in teh grocery store say "from concentrate." Is this okay as long as it says 100% juice? Or does it need to be organic? That stuff can get expensive. — Carol E. (posted on April 19, 2002)

Juicy Juice is 100% juice w/no sugar added, I also found a good Ocean Spray
Cranberry/Pineapple that's 100% juice w/no sugar added. I know that Ocean
Spray Light juices are sweetened with Splenda. Good luck.

I have just stuck to 100% juices. Just remember that even 100% juice
still has a lot of natural sugar in it. You might want to try watering it
down at first. Good luck.

I agree. I drink some orange juice, Apple & Eve, Juicy Juice,
Motts---I only consider it when it says 100% juice...even then I still read
the ingredients.

I only buy juices that contain less than 10g sugar per 8 oz serving. That
way I add just a bit of water to make a decent sized glass. I have dumped
on fruits & juices, and I always figure what makes me dump will make me
fat again, so I stick with the tiny g rule.

Juice is the eaisist way to sabatage your weightloss. They are the high
caloric liquids that we hear about. 112 calories and 27gms of carbs. That
is the amount of carbs you need to take in if you are eating 1890 cal a
day. Good Luck

Make sure that if you feel like you must drink juice that you drink one
with some nutritional value to it. Apple juice tastes good and doesn't
have the acid that citrus juices do, but it doesn't have much else going
for it. Some grape juice is fortified with vitamin C which is about the
only thing it has with any nutritional value. Also read the labels very
carefully. Many of the 'juices' sold are primarily white grape with a
little of some other flavoring. That means they can be 100% juice, but may
not be the kind of juice the brand name is leading you to believe it is.

try Sesame Street juice or Disney juice. Both are 100% juice with vitamine
c and calcium. Less sugar than most. Peditrician recommended it for my
son when I stopped breastfeeding because he will not drink milk. He said
he can get calcium from other sources and vitamine D from the sun. But the
juice does help with calcium intake. Also, if at all possible avoid it all
together. I would rather chew than drink my calories. Good Luck
