Question:
Did your appetite change after tummy tuck?

On Jan 12 I had extensive hernia repair and abdominoplasty with 10 pounds of skin being removed. Now I find that I have very little energy, no appetite what-so-ever and a bit quesy when I do eat. For instance I don't finish a whole scrambled egg or even 1/4 cup cottage cheese. Has anyone else had this? Wendy — Wendy G. (posted on January 22, 2004)

I was the same way after my tt/mr/br in December of 2002, your appetite will return, part of the reason is because of your tight tummy!!! enjoy it!!!!

oh yes! i had my full tt and breast lift may 2003. I had no appetite at all. It was weird. It is pretty common though from those i have talked to. kristi-ky http://hometown.aol.com/kbatten278/Kristi-KYindex.html

I never had any problem. I probably eat more now then I did prior to my tt. The only time I ate less was immediately afterwords when I was still on antibiotics (cipro). That caused me to have a loss of appetite during the time I was taking it. If your still on antiobiotics, that could be the cause of your problem. Be sure to take your pills with a full stomach - that should eliminate the queasy feeling. You've also just had surgery so your bound to have no energy. Give it a few weeks and you'll be feeling as good as new.

Wendy I had a face lift last July and I felt the same way . I was queasy, nauseous, shaky and no energy. I had to force myself to eat. I also lost 4 to 5 lbs. during that time. But in time things got back to normal and I felt much better. Just give yourself a little more time and remember to drink as much water as you can and eat smaller meals about every three hours.I think is just a reaction to the surgery and our bodies need time to adjust to get back to normal.

This was also my experience.. got me to goal which was REALLY great... use it.. it was like my first few months of GBP surgery and I enjoyed it.. although it worried me a little sometimes... first time in my life I would get on the scale and NOT want it to go down so fast.

My appetite is back and my capacity is just fine. It will come back. Just make sure you're having protein... and well, I used that time to indulge a little in things I would never eat... some pizza... had a few mashed potatoes on my birthday (10 days post tummy tuck) ... it was fun... I knew I wasn't eating enough for that to be a really bad thing. Good luck... treat yourself and make sure you're getting enough protein.
